Students repeatedly measure a fixed corridor length with the same tape and want to compare small and large samples. Available equipment and procedure options: Use a tape, fixed end marks and independent repositioning; collect several separate batches of each size. Design an investigation of how the number of independent readings included in each mean affects the spread of mean corridor lengths between batches. Include a reasoned hypothesis, an appropriate range, controls, repeat measurements, a results table or graph, and one specific limitation and safety measure. Do not invent experimental results.

What a complete response should do

Define what changes and what is measured, then give a reproducible method and a way to judge the evidence.

Split the problem into linked stages and state why each relationship applies.
