A uniform potentiometer wire carries a steady current. A reference cell of e.m.f. 1.20 V balances at 60.0 cm and an unknown cell balances at 64 cm, both measured from the same end with unchanged driver current. At balance the detector current is zero. (a) Find the unknown e.m.f. (b) Explain why its internal resistance does not affect the balance. (c) Explain the error if driver current increases only before measuring the unknown cell.
