Optional Year 5 eAssessment: participating schools may enter students for a two-hour on-screen sciences assessment. It is not taken by every MYP learner and is separate from classroom assessment and the student-directed personal project.

The MYP requires schools to allocate at least 50 teaching hours to each subject group in each year. Physics may be taught within an integrated or discrete sciences course, so this pathway is designed to be split, combined, and revisited.

Schools also plan at least one collaboratively developed interdisciplinary unit each year involving at least two subject groups. Physics can contribute authentic evidence through energy, design, sound, movement, climate, space, and technology questions.
