An ideal gas follows the closed p–V path A→B→C→D→A with (volume in litres, pressure in kPa) coordinates A(1.8, 180), B(1.8, 280), C(3.8, 280), D(3.8, 180). All legs are straight. Take work done by the gas as positive and use ΔU = Q − Wby. (a) Calculate work on each leg and net work. (b) Determine net heat input per cycle and explain why internal-energy change is zero. Use 1 L = 10⁻³ m³.
