A sealed rigid vessel contains an ideal gas with molar mass 0.0280 kg mol⁻¹ at 360 K and pressure 1.450 × 105 Pa. Use R = 8.31 J mol⁻¹ K⁻¹. From pV = nRT and p = ρvrms²/3, determine the gas density and root-mean-square molecular speed. The absolute temperature is then doubled without changing the amount of gas or vessel volume. Predict the new pressure, density and rms speed; explain why the average velocity vector can still be zero.
