A cart of mass 0.9 kg initially moves right at 2 m s⁻¹. A sensor records the net horizontal force, with right positive. The force-time graph is straight between these (time in s, force in N) points: (0, 0), (0.2, -22.5), (0.4, 0). After the final point the force is zero. Find the impulse, final velocity and change in kinetic energy. State whether the cart reverses direction and whether the interaction must remove kinetic energy.

What a complete response should do
Identify the useful evidence, process it with units, and make only the conclusion the data supports.
Split the problem into linked stages and state why each relationship applies.

Recorded net force on the cart
The plotted coordinates are supplied observations, also listed in the question; no fitted result is shown.
Read the exact data as a table
| Time / s | Net horizontal force / N |
|---|---|
| 0 | 0 |
| 0.2 | -22.5 |
| 0.4 | 0 |
These are the supplied readings, not a worked answer. Lines join the supplied readings; they are not a fitted model.
